Cricket Betting Tips | Peshawar Zalmi v Islamabad United | Who Will Win | PSL 2022 Eliminator 1
In the first of two knockout matches in the playoffs, both teams are pursuing the scenic route to unlimited possibilities.
During the regular season, Peshawar Zalmi finished in the middle of the pack, ahead of Islamabad United by four points, securing the third spot. Although their net control rate was slightly lower, Zalmi's six wins were on par with the second-placed Lahore Qalandars.
In the playoffs, Zalmi emerged victorious against both Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings, and defeated Qalandars in a super over in their final game of the season. Haider Ali (25 from 22) and Shoaib Malik (32 from 28) were the main contributors in the 20 overs, while Wahab Riaz was outstanding in keeping the super over tight, conceding just five runs which Malik knocked off in two balls.
Zalmi and Islamabad faced each other twice during the season, with each team winning one game. Islamabad convincingly won the first tie, chasing down Zalmi's 168 in just 16 overs for the loss of only one wicket, with Paul Stirling (57 from 25) and Alex Hales (82 from 54) causing most of the damage.
Islamabad United's performance throughout the tournament has been inconsistent, with just four victories and no consecutive wins. They have demonstrated attacking prowess in some games, especially against Quetta Gladiators, when they scored 229 for 4 with Colin Munro's 72 from just 39 balls being the highlight. However, injuries and selection issues have hindered them, resulting in losses in their last three games, with several key players missing.
Shoaib Malik, who has scored 346 runs with two half-centuries, has been one of the most in-form batters in the competition for Peshawar. He has been supported by Sherfane Rutherford and Mohammad Haris, who have contributed 160 and 154 runs, respectively. Their contributions will be crucial, particularly with Ben Cutting unavailable due to Covid.
Islamabad United's top-order batting was their strength in the early stages of the season, and losing Paul Stirling and Alex Hales has been a significant setback. However, Hales has returned for the playoffs and is expected to provide the United's middle order with the much-needed impetus. Will Jacks, who topped the run-scoring charts in the Bangladesh Premier League with 414 runs, has also joined the team, although his participation in the game remains uncertain.
Captain Shadab Khan's return to the side will be a huge boost to Islamabad's batting ranks, as he has scored 232 runs so far, including a top score of 91.
